JACKSON, Miss.- The Jackson State Lady Tigers continued their hot streak with a 3-2 win over Alabama State on Sunday evening.
The Tigers dominated the first set of the match 25-16 before falling in set two by a score of 25-17 as the Hornets tied things up at 1-1.
The next two sets of the contest were split with Jackson State taking the 2-1 set lead after winning the third set 25-19. Alabama State took the fourth set to once again tie things up at 2-2 and force a fifth and deciding set.
In the fifth set, Jackson State and Alabama State remained within just a point or two of the other before Alabama began to separate themselves from the Tigers with a 9-6 cushion.
Jackson State used three straight points to get work the game back to a tie at 9-9.
The score remained tied at the end 14-14, forcing a win by two situation in which the Tigers were able to pull off with two straight points to take the win 16-14 in a highly intense match.
The Tigers improved to 10-13 overall with the win and 6-1 in conference.
The Blue and White remain at home for a 6:30 p.m. match with Alabama A&M tomorrow at the AAC.
Jylen Whitten led JSU with 10 kills.
