The Jackson State soccer team hit pay dirt when
Patricia Calderon drilled a shot from 30-yards out at 62:48 in the second half to secure JSU's 1-0 win over rival Mississippi Valley State.
The Lady Tigers improved to 5-11 and 5-3 in the SWAC, while MVSU falls to 1-13-1 and 9-0 in conference play.
JSU controlled momentum throughout the match-up and out-shot MVSU 23-3, including a 10-0 margin in the second half.

Jalah Carter and Calderon each recorded a match-high five shot attempts.
Alexis Henriquez also added three shot attempts.
It was a physical game as both teams recorded 12 fouls.

JSU returns to action Wednesday as it hosts Alcorn State in a makeup game for Friday, which is set for a 3 p.m. start. The Lady Tigers closeout the regular season Friday at home versus Southern, also scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
