MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Marina Bianchi Brito tallied a team-high 11 kills on 20 attacks in Jackson State's loss to Alabama State on Monday night in Montgomery, Ala.
The Lady Tigers nearly escaped with a set one victory, yet the Yellow Jackets found a way to pull out the opening set victory, 27-25 to take a 1-0 lead.
ASU took control of the match in the second set, winning 25-17, before handing JSU a final defeat in the third set, 25-17.
The loss dropped JSU to 16-18 overall and 12-5 in SWAC play.
Damassy Thompson led JSU with 16 assists, followed by
DeKyra Dennis with 10 assists. Dennis also notched six digs on the evening.
Camry Dabney
finished behind Marina with seven kills in the contest. Alana Washington was the leader of all the Tigers with eight total digs.
Kaiya Wall and
Madison Wolf each had five digs. Jackson State finished with 31 kills, 29 assists, and 38 digs as a team.
Jackson State returns home on Thursday for the final regular season contest versus Mississippi Valley State. That matchup between the Lady Tigers and Devilettes is set for a 6:30 p.m. start time.
