Mustangs Top Tigers Saturday Night in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas - Jackson State's Tristan Jarrett and Jayveous McKinnis had season highs on Saturday night with Jarrett leading the way with 23 points and McKinnis with 19 points, in Jackson State's 80-63 loss to SMU. 

McKinnis earned his first double double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

He also had a team-high three blocks on the night. Jarrett had a team-high four three pointers as he was 4-of-12 beyond the arc.

Venjie Wallis collected six points, five rebounds, four assists, one block, and one steal.

Jonas James was third on the team for the Tigers with seven points. James also a team-high seven assists, one block, and two steals.

Jackson State was 25-of-65 (38.5 percent) from the field and 6-of-27 (22.2 percent) from three point territory.

The Tigers outscored SMU 34-26 in the paint and received 10 points off the bench. 

The loss drops JSU to 0-4 overall on the season. JSU returns to the court on Monday in San Marcos, Texas as the Blue and White will take on Texas State (2-2) beginning at 7 p.m.
