JACKSON, Miss. - Jayveous McKinnis finished with a team-high 15 points, eight rebounds, and two steals in Jackson States convincing 72-53 home opening win over Southern University of New Orleans on Friday night.
Jackson State outscored the Knights in the first half 39-24 and 33-29 in the second half and finished 29-of-57 from the field.
Jonas James had 10 points on 3-of-7 shooting and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Cainan McClelland notched nine points a piece.
Senior,
Dontelius Ross, had a team-high two three pointers made and collected eight points against the Knights.
Jackson State had 19 steals in the matchup and 23 boards. The Blue and White also had 38 points in the paint, 17 fast break points, and 22 points off of the bench.
JSU improved to 1-5 overall after the win and will return to action on Tuesday with a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada to take on UNLV beginning at 7 p.m.
