CONWAY, Ark. – Marneisha Hamer scored a game-high 17 points as Central Arkansas edged Jackson State 57-54 Saturday afternoon.
UCA improves to 2-5 and JSU stands at 1-5.
The Lady Tigers were in a position to force overtime and in the final seconds of the fourth quarter was not able to get a final shot attempt off.
Ameshya Williams scored 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds to narrowly miss the double-double.
Dayzsha Rogan added 11 points and went 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Rogan also grabbed six boards and recorded three steals.
Cherelle Jones added six points and finished 2-of-2 at the free throw line.
The Lady Tigers won the battle in front of the basket with 42 rebounds and 28 points in the paint.
JSU finished 1-for-8 from three-point range, while the Bears went 6-of-19.
The Blue & White return to action Saturday, December 7 at Southeastern Louisiana. The tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
