PORTLAND, Ore. – Tristan Jarrett dropped a game-high 31 points to lead Jackson State past Portland 73-63 Thursday evening in non-conference action.
Jackson State improved to 3-8 and Portland falls to 8-4.
The Tigers shot 47.5 percent (29-of-61) from the field, including a sterling 52.1 percent (12-of-23) in the second half.
JSU started off fast and went to halftime with a 37-32 lead and shot 44.7 percent (17-of-38) from the field.
Roland Griffin came off the bench and scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Jayveous McKinnis added 12 points and hauled in nine rebounds and narrowly missed the double-double.
Venjie Wallis scored eight points and
Dontelius Ross helped out with six points.
The Tigers forced 22 turnovers, which was turned into 23 points.
JSU also dominated in the paint and scored 34 points while grabbing 33 rebounds.
The Blue & White return to action Saturday and plays at No.13 Memphis Saturday. The tip is set for noon.
