Boston College Outduels Jackson State at Saturday Doubleheader

JACKSON – Boston College defeated Jackson State 11-2 and 9-5 Saturday afternoon at Robert
"Bob" Braddy Field.
 
Game 1           Boston College 11, Jackson State 2

The Eagles opened up a 7-0 lead and the Tigers were not able to overcome the early deficit.
 
Equon Smith and Chandler Dillard each added RBI singles in the bottom of the eighth inning.
 
Wesley Reyes batted 1-for-4 and Marshall Luiz went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
 
Nikelle Galatas was tagged with the loss. The Sophomore tossed three and two-third innings and scattered five hits, allowed six runs (four earned) and walked one batter and stuck out a batter.
 
Game 2           Boston College 9, Jackson State 5
 
JSU trailed early 7-0 and rallied with two runs in the fourth inning and three in the sixth to nearly complete the comeback.
 
Jaylyn Williams batted 2-for-4 with three RBI and scored a run.
 
Smith and Dillard each added an RBI.
 
Junior Mario Lopez started and absorbed the setback. The Miami product tossed four innings and allowed 11 hits, eight runs and two walks and fanned a pair of batters.
 
Brandon Valentin, also a Miami native, entered in relief and threw five innings and scattered three hits, allowed one run and one walk and struck out seven batters.
 
The Tigers complete their four-game series Sunday at 11 a.m. at Thee Bob.
