JACKSON – Four student-athletes scored in double-digits as JSU came out on the wrong end of a 79-66 defeat versus Prairie View A&M Saturday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

The Panthers improved to 11-12 and 10-1 in the SWAC, while JSU sits at 9-16 and 6-6 in the conference standings.

Sophomore
Lemmie Howard dropped a team-high 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor. The 6-foot-7 forward also went 2-of-4 from 3-point range.

Venjie Wallis scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in 39 minutes of action. The junior also went 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.

Chris Howell posted 12 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to notch the double-double. The senior also handed out six assists.

Freshman
Jayveous McKinnis added 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field.

As a team, JSU shot 47.8 percent (22-of-46) from the field, including a blistering 50 percent (12-of-24) in the second half.

The Tigers also forced the Panthers into 11 turnovers, which was turned into 25 points.

JSU returns to the hardwood Monday and host Texas Southern. The tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
