JACKSON – Junior Marneisha Hamer powered her way to 26 points and 11 rebounds in an 89-80 setback versus Prairie View A&M Saturday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
 
PVAMU improves to 11-10 and 8-3 in the SWAC, while JSU falls to 10-13 and 6-6 in the conference.
 
The first half was a virtual standstill and the score was knotted 40-40 at the break. After a close third quarter, the Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Tigers 34-22 in the fourth quarter.
 
Senior Christina Ellis scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor. The San Diego native also grabbed seven rebounds and handed out four assists.
 
Junior Sumer Williams added 13 points while hauling in six rebounds.
 
As a team JSU shot 40.3 percent (31-of-77) from the field, while PVAMU converted 54.7 percent (29-of-53) of its shots from the floor.
 
The Lady Tigers return to the hardwood Monday versus Texas Southern. The tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
