JACKSON, Miss. – Jackson State and Southern split on the final day of their three-game series. SU won game one 4-1 and JSU seized game two 5-3.
In game two, SU opened a 3-0 lead before JSU rallied to earn the win.
Kelsey Smith started the scoring in the bottom of the third with a two-run home run to left field.
In the fourth inning,
Destyn Jones singled to center and
Ariana Cruz put the Lady Tigers up for good with an RBI single to right field. Nava Jones also scored an unearned run.
Kayla Owens earned the win in the circle. The sophomore tossed five innings and scattered five hits, allowed three runs (two earned) and no walks and fanned three batters.
In game one,
Zoey Keyes delivered an RBI single and drew a walk.
Leah Hopson threw a complete game. Hopson allowed 10 hits, four runs and one walk and fanned one batter.
