MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama State edged Jackson State 3-2 in 11 innings Saturday evening in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.
Jaylyn Williams put the Tigers (record) on the scoreboard in the top of the first with an RBI single to left field.
ALST tied the game in the bottom of the first and JSU regained the lead in the top of the third when
Equon Smith scored on a throwing error by the catcher.
The Hornets tied the game in the eighth inning and forced extras.
Garth Cahill started and absorbed the no-decision. The senior threw 7.1 innings and surrendered one hit, allowed two runs and two walks and fanned five batters.
Williams batted 2-for-5 and
Marshal Luiz finished 2-for-3 from the plate.
