HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Alabama A&M squeezed out a 2-1 decision over Jackson State in the series opener Friday afternoon.
The SWAC contest was a pitchers dual and defensive stalemate.
Sophomore
Kayla Owens tossed a complete game and scattered six hits and allowed two runs and two walks and fanned three batters. She also induced nine fly outs and six ground outs.
JSU's lone run came in the top of the third with
Cheyenne Aplon's RBI double to left field to score
Kaitlyn Elzie.
Owens also helped herself at the plate and batted 2-for-3.
