HAMMOND, La. - The Lady Tigers volleyball team took on Cal Baptist and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a double-header matchup on Friday at the Southeastern Louisiana Volleyball Tournament.
In match one versus Cal Baptist, the Tigers had trouble generating any momentum in the first set as Cal Baptist took set one by a final of 25-14.Â
Set two was not much different as the Lady Lancers handled business by giving JSU another set loss, 25-12, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Lady Tigers were unable to gain any traction in the match, as they fell in the third and final set 25-16 to fall 3-0 to CBU.
Despite the loss in game one, the Blue and White played at another level in the next game versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
While the outcome was the same as game one, the effort and competitiveness were much improved.Â
The Lady Tigers fell in the first two sets but got one back in set three, winning 25-20 after taking a 17-10 lead midway through the match.Â
The set win was the first for the Tigers since a 3-2 over Florida A&M back on August 31. With the loss in both matches on Friday, JSU fell to 3-7 on the season.
The Tigers get another chance tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. against the Tournament host, Southeastern Louisiana.Â
