JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State men's basketball team continued to excel on the court, this time time defeating Southern on ESPNU by a final score of 67-51.
The win marked the fifth straight win for the Blue and White, improving to 10-14 overall and 7-4 in conference play.Â
Once again, Jackson State was led by it's top two scorers,
Tristan Jarrett and
Roland Griffin as they nearly eclipsed 20+ points for the second game in a row.Â
Jarrett led all scorers with 22 points on 9-of-21 shooting, while Griffin was 4-of-10 and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line to end the night with 18 points.Â
Griffin finished tied for a team-high seven rebounds along with
Jayveous McKinnis who tallied seven boards and three points.Â
Cainan McClelland and
Dontelius Ross had five rebounds and
Venjie Wallis collected six points.
The Tigers shot 41.2% (21-of-51)Â from the field and 22-of-27 from the free throw line.Â
Jackson State returns to the court on Saturday with a matchup on the road in Houston (Texas) versus Texas Southern at 7:30 p.m.
