GRAMBLING, La. - Jackson State nearly completed the 14 point comeback but fell just short by a final score of 63-61 to Grambling Saturday evening.

Wallis who had an impressive outing with 15 points, three steals, and five rebounds. Wallis was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Roland Griffin with 14 points and seven rebounds. Griffin took a team high 19 shots, knocking down five shots.
In the first half of the contest, Grambling led by as many as 14 points with four minutes left on the clock until the break.
Jackson State played solid defense and made clutch shots to work the deficit to a manageable score, before taking a 50-48 lead with a
Miles Daniels three pointer.
JSU eventually extended it's own lead to 57-50 with under five minutes left but Grambling went on a 13-4 run over the final remaining minutes with the help of seven made free throws, all by Grambling's Ivy Smith Jr.
GSU went on to defeat the Blue and White by a final of 63-61, as Wallis' final second three point shot nearly missed going in for the game winner.
With the loss, JSU falls to 10-17 overall and 7-7 in SWAC play.
Jayveous McKinnis had nine rebounds and four points in 22 minutes of action.
Tristan Jarrett added 13 points and
Miles Daniels had 10 points in an extended role Saturday.
As a team, Jackson State was 22-of-61 from the field and 12-of-15 from the free throw line. JSU had 26 points in the paint and 30 rebounds.
JSU returns to the court next week for a home matchup with Mississippi Valley State at home beginning at 5:30 p.m.
