OXFORD, Miss. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers softball team fell in two contests Friday afternoon at the Ole Miss Classic.

In game one, JSU was defeated by Missouri State 4-2 before being shutout by Ole Miss in game two by a final score of 8-0.

Missouri State jumped out to a 4-0 lead after scoring one run in the second, two in the third, and one more in the fifth.

The Lady Tigers cut the lead in half in the top of sixth inning and brought the tying run to the plate with a runner at second, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity as MSU went on to get out of the sixth inning and hold JSU scoreless in the seventh to take the 4-2 win.

In game two Jackson State fell behind 1-0 to Ole Miss, before the Rebels quickly tacked on five more runs in the third inning to stretch the Rebel lead to 6-0.

Ole Miss scored two in the bottom half of the fifth inning to ultimately give the home team an 8-0 win over Jackson State.

JSU managed one hit, which came off the bat of Ariana Cruz, in the Tigers loss. JSU falls to 6-9 overall on the season.

The Lady Tigers return to action tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. versus California Baptist at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
