BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Jackson State's
Hannah White its SWAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week and
Chris Felix its SWAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for their outstanding performances during competition Jan. 15-17.
White (Chandler, Arizona) placed first place at both the Vulcan and Blazer Invitationals over the weekend with throws of 13.96m and 14.12m in the shotput event. Those marks currently stand as two of the top marks amongst conference performers.
Felix (Bryam, Miss.) 60-meter dash time of 6.73 was a collegiate best and 8th best in the world. His time ranked world-wide at 23rd after the weekend. He placed 1st place in the 60-meter dash at the Blazer Invitational.
Other notable performances mentioned for the Tigers were JSU's
Tevin Thompson, who placed first overall at the Blazer Invitational with a long jump of 7.07m and
Jallah Galimah, who ran the one mile run in a time of 4:22.84 to finish 5th overall this past weekend for JSU Women's Track and Field.
