Tigers Fall to Southeastern La. In Five-Setter

JACKSON, MISS. — The Jackson State University volleyball team fell to the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana University in a five-set match. The match was originally scheduled to be the home opener that was rescheduled due to inclimate weather

With scores ending at 19-25, 27-25, 14-25, 25-18, and 13-15, 25-27, this back and forth match breaks the Tigers win streak of eight matches.

Jackson State won the second and fourth sets of the match with a final score of 27-25 and 25-18. The Tigers offense was stalled, hitting for an average of .167 with 50 kills on 150 total attacks. The defense was ready, though, accruing a total of 10 block assists and 59 digs. Alexis Williams finished the evening with 21.5 points off 17 kills and 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Also recording her fifth double-double of the season was Damassy Thompson with 38 assists and 11 digs. Olivia Flanagan earned 10 points off 10 kills to support the hitters.

The loss against Southeastern Louisiana puts Jackson State volleyball at an overall record of 8-11 as they head to Florida to take on Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M on the 24th and 25th of this month.
