HUNTSVILLE, Ala - Jackson State dropped a close SWAC match to Alabama A&M, 1-0, at the Bulldog Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers (4-11-2, 3-3-2) out-shot the Bulldogs (7-7-1, 6-1-0), 16-11, and had seven shots on target compared to Alabama A&M's six.
Sophomore
Annalise Brunson led the charge with six shots and two on goal. She rocketed shots in the 11th and 21st minute in the first half, but keeper Jodi Medina stepped in front of both shots.
JSU goalkeeper Tionna Taylor recorded five saves in the setback. The match's lone score came off a goal from Gabby Cumby in the 83rd minute.
"We keep giving matches away. I thought we were the better team, but what does that matter? What matters is the scoreboard, they've scored, we haven't and it's really that simple," head coach Dr. Ted Flogaites said. "The amount of chances and opportunities we wasted is beyond absurd. We can look nowhere for excuses, we are responsible for everything that happens to us. It's a dagger in the heart, but we did it to ourselves. We are a really good team that for some reason doesn't want to be great."
The Tigers will look to regroup with their final match of the regular season Friday, October 29 as they host Southern on senior day at the JSU Soccer Field.
