HUNTSVILLE, ALA. — The Jackson State men's cross country program competed in the NCAA South Region Championships this morning, while Mercy Chebii represented the women's team.
231 runners from 33 teams competed in the women's 6K race. Chebii finished her race with an overall time of 23:47.6, an average pace of 6:22.9 minutes-per-mile.
Five runners competed for Jackson State in the men's 10K, which consisted of 181 runners from 27 teams. Leading the team was Brian Koringo, a freshman, who finished 101st overall with a time of 32:31.8. He3 was 4.8 seconds from cracking into the top-100 runners overall. Koringo ran a pace of 5:14.1 minutes-per-mile. Jallah Galimah finished 130th overall with a time of 33:41.6, followed by Stephen Korir with a time of 36:08.9 in 160th place.
Patrick Pettiway finished with a t time of 39:18 in 174th place. Tyler Duncan ran, but did not finish due to injury.
