JACKSON, Miss. – Dayzsha Rogan, the reigning SWAC Player of the Year and
Ameshya Williams, the reigning SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, ruled supreme in Jackson State's dominating 75-59 win over Nicholls State Tuesday afternoon from the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.
Williams provided the thunder and finished with a game-high 20 points, added seven rebounds, and finished with three blocks. Rogan added the lightning and finished with 18 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field.
Jariyah Covington came off the bench and scored 12 points and added four assists.
JSU (1-1, 0-0 SWAC) led for 37:20 with a lead that reached 21 points in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers dominated in the paint and out-scored the Colonels 46-18 and out-rebounded their opponent 45-29. JSU also scored 16 second-chance points. As a team, JSU shot 49.2 percent (32-65) from the field and held NSU (1-2, 0-0 Southland) to 32.8 percent (22-67) from the floor.
