OXFORD, Miss - The Jackson State women's basketball team fought hard but could not find an edge against a consistent Ole Miss squad, falling 79-66 at The Sandy and John Black Pavilion.
The Tigers were neck and neck with the Rebels throughout the first quarter and midway through the second quarter, despite Shakira Austin scoring 13 consecutive points for Ole Miss. The Rebels ended the first half on a 7-0 run going into intermission with a nine point lead, 40-31.
The momentum-shifting Rebels end of the first half run extended to the second half which gave Ole Miss a 44-31 lead at the 8:57 mark of the third quarter, ended on a jumper from
Jariyah Covington in the paint. The momentum swing turned the tide of the game in their favor for good as the Tigers were not able to claw back.
Three Tigers scored in double-digits -
Jariyah Covington (17 points, 6 assists, 3 steals),
Ameshya Williams-Holliday (16 points, 10 rebounds), and
Daja Woodard (16 points, 8 rebounds).
JSU was able to limit Ole Miss to a 4-12 mark from beyond the arc, but Sharika Austin and Madison Scott combined for 45 points (17-31) to pace the Rebels.

- Jackson State State was 25-69 (36 percent) shooting from the field and 15-18 (83 percent) from the charity stripe
- Ole Miss shot 40 percent (28-70) from the field and 73 percent (19-26) from the free-throw line
- The Tigers registered 41 rebounds, including 22 on the defensive glass and 19 on the offensive glass
- The Rebels pulled down 48 rebounds, with 25 coming on the defensive end and 23 on the offensive end
- JSU finished with 40 points in the paint, 40 bench points, 6 fast-break points and 16 second-chance points
- Ole Miss registered 17 bench points, 36 points in the paint, 4 fast-break points and 19 second-chance points

Jackson State will return to action when they travel to Texas Wednesday, December 1. Tip-off is set for 7:00 P.M CST at the Frank C. Erwin Jr. Special Events Center.
