Covington Scores 16 in Setback at Texas

Box Score AUSTIN, Texas – Three Jackson State student-athletes scored in double figures as Texas defeated JSU 78-64 Wednesday evening in non-conference action.
 
Senior Jariyah Covington scored a game-high 16 points and was 8-for-10 from the free-throw line.
 
Junior Miya Crump dropped 11 points, grabbed six rebounds, handed out three assists and recorded three steals.
 
Senior Ameshya Williams-Holliday added 10 points and secured five rebounds.
 
Junior Daja Woodard finished with a game-high seven rebounds and finished with four points.
 
The Tigers matched-up well with the Longhorns on the boards and UT held a narrow 38-37 rebounding advantage. JSU out-rebounded UT 12-10 on the offensive glass and scored 32 points in the paint.
 
As a team, JSU shot 39 percent (23-for-59) from the field and forced UT into 13 turnovers.
 
JSU returns to the court December 9 at Arkansas.
