JACKSON, Miss. - The Lady Tigers defeated undefeated Prairie View A&M on Sunday evening by a final score of 3-0 to remaining undefeated on the season.
In set one the Lady Tigers held onto a close set victory, winning 25-23 to take a 1-0 lead into the second set.Â
In set two, after jumping out to a 21-14 start, PVAMU battled back to a one point deficit, 24-23, before JSU put the final point into the court to win 25-23. JSU led 2-0 after the first two sets.
Both teams kept it close in the third set with PVAMU maintaining a close 13-12 midway through the set. It took a few extra points but the Lady Tigers handed the Lady Panthers 26-24 set loss to take the sweep 3-0 on the night.Â
Jylen Whitten led JSU with 13 kills in the contest while also adding seven digs.
Alexis Williams had 10 kills and seven digs.Â
Damassy Thompson had a team best nine digs and 18 total assists.
Jordan Jones had 10Â kills on the night.Â
The Lady Tigers stayed undefeated on the season, improving to 3-0 overvall and 3-0 in SWAC play.
Jackson State returns to the court on Tuesday afternoon for a home matchup with Texas Southern beginning at 2 p.m. The contest will be played at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.Â
