HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers softball team dropped a pair of contests on the road Tuesday night to Southern Miss by finals of 6-2 and 10-0.
In game one, the Lady Tigers held a tie game at 1-1 before the Golden Eagles scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth to win by a final of 6-2.
JSU knotted the game up at one in the top of the third inning, when
Isis Taylor drew a walk, which brought in the tying run at 1-1. With the game was tied at one in the fifth inning, Southern Miss used a Hannah Borden double to take the lead to break a 1-1 tie.
USM scored three runs in the sixth inning to distance themselves from the Lady Tigers.
Krissy Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead JSU in hits.
In game two, USM scored 10 runs on 12 hits to defeated JSU by a final of 10-0 in five innings. The Lady Tigers tallied two hits with
Jalia Hubbard and
Samiah Huckabee leading the way with a pair of hits to lead JSU.
The Lady Tigers fall to 0-4 overall on the season and return to the field on Friday versus Tuskegee and Rust College. First pitch versus Tuskegee is set for 2 p.m. at Sports Force Park in Vicksburg, Miss.
