GRAMBLING, La. – Jackson State defeated Grambling State 15-8 in a midweek non-conference tilt.
Tied at 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh,
Ty Hill's two-run home run to center field provided JSU a lead it would not relinquish.
Hill, batting seventh, finished 2-for-5 with five RBI. The sophomore also scored a pair of runs.
CJ Newsome batted 3-for-4 with three RBI and scored three runs and drew a pair of walks.
Chenar Brown,
Wesley Reyes,
Devontae Rhodes, and
Jefrey Rodriguez each added an RBI.
Steven Davila entered in relief and was credited with the win. The junior tossed 3 2/3 innings and scattered two hits, allowed one run and struck out a pair of batters. Davila also induced four outs by ground out.
The Tigers, winners of eight in a row, return to action Tuesday, March 23 vs Tougaloo for a 3 p.m. start.
