Box Score JACKSON, Miss . - Jackson State took the weekend series over Alabama A&M Saturday afternoon, winning by a final score of 16-0 in SWAC play.
The Tigers utilized one run in the first, two in the fourth, and an astounding nine runs in the fifth inning to take a 12-0 lead over the Bulldogs.
In the fifth, JSU was lifted to a big inning with an RBI triple by
Wesley Reyes that notched two runners across the plate.Â
Leading 9-0 with runners at second and third,
Chenar Brown added yet another home run for the week, with a three run shot to lift JSU to a double-digit lead.
JSU picked up four more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend it's lead to 16-0. The Tigers went on to win by a final of 16-0 to take the series 2-0.
Brown led JSU with four hits in five at bats, three runs scored and five runs driven in.Â
Equon Smith had two hits in four at bats with one run and an RBIÂ
Reyes had two runs batted in on one hit while
Chandler Dillard had two runs scored.Â
Chevy Dorris had three hits with four runs battied in and two runs scored on the afternoon.
Mario Lopez got the win for JSU, going 7.0 innings pitched with six hits surrendered and four strikeouts.Â
JSU improved to 13-6 overall on the season and 8-0 in SWAC play. The Tigers go for the sweep tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m. at Braddy Field.
