JACKSON, Miss. The Jackson State softball took the series 2-1 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff over the weekend after sweeping Tuesday's double-header 4-1 and 7-1.
In game one, Jackson State outlasted UAPB, winning by a final score of 4-1to even up the series at 1-1 on Tuesday. JSU got on the board in the second inning whenÂ
Zoey Keyes singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Kayla Owens was the winning pitcher for the Lady Tigers as she lasted seven innings, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out seven.Â
As a team, JSUÂ tallied seven hits.Â

Isis Taylor all had multiple hits for for JSU as Taylor and Serrano each managed two hits in the contest as JSU went on to win game one by a final of 4-1.
In game two, Jackson State defeated Arkansas Pine Bluff by a final of 7-1 after getting off to a hot start with four runs in the first inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles byÂ

Macie Kuppenbender led the JSU in the circle, earning the win for the Lady Tigers. The righthander surrendered one run on three hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one.

Alexis Arredondo, Owens, and Brianna Simms-Johnson each finding the hit column. Samiyyah Huckabee was a force on the base path with three stolen bases, as the Lady Tigers ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases total in the game.
The Lady Tigers improved to 6-13 overall and 3-2 in SWAC play with the double-header sweep. JSU returns to the diamond on Thursday for a three-game series conference matchup with Mississippi Valley State on the road in Itta Bena, Miss.
