CLINTON, Miss. - The Jackson State track and field program competed on Saturday at the Mississippi College Outdoor season opener in Clinton, Miss.
Tevin Thompson placed first overall in the men's long jump with a jump of 7.01. He also placed fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 13.77 meters.
In the men's 400 meter hurdles,
Quandaveus Gilliam and
Josias Jean placed fourth and fifth overall with Gilliam finishing fourth with a time of 55.56 while Jean ran a 56.54.
In the men's 1500 meter run, Jallah Galimah ran a 4:05.41 to place eighth in the events. DeAndre McGriggs placed fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.03.
McGriggs also placed fifth in the 200 meter dash, running a 22.08. In the 100 meter dash, Adell Coltrust placed second overall after a time of 10.88.
Shari Muhammed ran a 2:00.36 in the 800 meter run to take fifth overall.
Austin Fields placed third overall with a 1.90 meter jump while Davieon Center came in third place with a 14.11 meter throw in the men's shot put and seventh in the discus with a throw of 38.93 meters.
On the women's side, Hannah White placed first in the shot put with a throw of 14.57m. She also placed second in the women's discus after a throw of 45.45 meters.
Jahelle Cato placed fourth in the women's 400 meter hurdle with a time of 1:07.67. Janai Lyons competed and finished in fourth overall with a jump of 5.44 meters in the womens long jump. Rahkaya Randle was fourth in the women's long jump after a 1.52 meter jump. Kymoi Noray placed second in the womens javelin for a throw of 39.75 meters.
