JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers suffered two losses to Belhaven on Wednesday in the Lady Tigers home opener. Jackson State fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-0 loss to Belhaven on Wednesday. Belhaven scored on an error, an error, and an error in the first inning. JSU struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Belhaven, giving up nine runs.

Zoey Keyes in the third inning was a positive for Jackson State. Kennedy Carruth led Belhaven to victory on the rubber. Carruth allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking zero.
Kayla Owens took the loss for Jackson State Tigers. The righthander allowed six hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking zero.
Keyes went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Jackson State in hits.

Isabel Gusman to tie the game up at 1-1.Â
Kayla Owens doubled to right field in the fifth inning, scoring
Brianna Simms Johnson to cut the lead to 5-2.
Two more runs in the sixth trimmed the Blazer lead to 5-4 with one inning left in the contest. Belhaven went on to win by a final of 6-4 to take the double-header sweep.
Jackson State totaled nine hits as a team in the second game and were led by Simms-Johnson with two hits and Gusman with three hits.
Jackson State returns to the field tomorrow on the road at Belhaven, beginning at 1 p.m.
