STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Jackson State Lady Tigers took on Mississippi State in a midweek double-header on Tuesday night in Starkville, Miss. in non-conference play.
The Lady Bulldogs took game one by a final score of 8-0 on 11 hits compared to the Lady Tigers two hits. Alexis Arrendondo and
Samiah Huckabee each collected the lone hits for JSU in game one.Â
Game two saw a better outing by JSU as the Lady Tigers managed two runs on the first inning and one run in the second to hold a 3-3 tie with MSU heading into the third inning.
MSU went on to produce seven unanswered runs over the next four innings of play to ultimately take the double-header sweep with a 10-3 win in game two.Â
Isabel Gusman had a two run home run in the first inning that put JSU up 2-0 at the time. Gusman finished 1-for-3 with a run scored and two runs batted in.
Jalia Hubbard had one run in the game along with
Alexis Arredondo. Brianna Simms-Johnson collected Jackson State's second hit of the game.
The Lady Tigers fell to 13-19 overall on the season yet remain 10-4 in SWAC play heading into Thursday night's final series in SWAC play with Alcorn. First pitch with Alcorn is set for 5 p.m. CST at the JSU Softball Complex.
