JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State baseball program took down Alabama State by a final score of 8-3 on Friday afternoon to take the first game of the three game series in SWAC play.
Trailing 3-2 in the seventh inning, JSU utilized a six running inning with two outs to jump out to a commanding 8-3 lead over the Hornets, as the Tigers collected 10 hits as a team in the win.Â

Ty Hill each tallied a multiple hit game with hits hits a piece at the plate. Hill led JSU with three runs batted in on the afternoon while contributing a run scored.Â
Jatavious Melton scored a team best two runs in for game one while six other Tigers produced a run scored.
Steven Davila got the win out of the bullpen for the Tigers as he went 3.0 innings pitched while surrendering just one hit and striking out five opposing batters.
Jackson State improved to 19-7 overall on the season and a perfect 13-0 in SWAC play after the opening series win. The Tigers return to the field tomorrow with first pitch set for 3 p.m. CST at Braddy Field.
