Tigers Fall to Jacksonville State

JACKSONVILLE, Ala - Jackson State women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Jacksonville State Sunday afternoon at the JSU Soccer Complex.

Jacksonville State's Ali Thomas and Nyeemah Beckles each scored a goal in the 6th and 64th minutes.

The Lady Tigers recorded six shots including three on target to Jacksonville State's 19 shots with 11 on target.

"I thought we looked and played very well and I'm certain the score line doesn't reflect it", head coach Dr. Ted Flogaites said. "We were caught napping early and that's disappointing and then I felt that we were in the ascendancy and played very well. We conceded an own goal against the run the play that was a bit of a dagger in the heart. We carved out some really good chances to score and we are bitterly disappointed that we didn't find the back of the net. My personal feeling is that this is the best team we've had here in a long time, but we have to clean up some sections of play and mentality when things aren't going our way. I don't think we are the easy mark people believed we were in the past and part of our goal is to change the perception. We are JSU and we are here to play every match every time we put on THEE uniform."

Jackson State will return to pitch for the first home game of the season Aug. 29 against Lamar University at the JSU Soccer Field. Kick-off if set for 1 p.m
