Lady Tigers Head Home From Alabama With a Sweep

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. — The Lady Tigers of Jackson State earned the third win of the 2022 SWAC season on the road against Alabama A&M University. The win improves Jackson State to 5-6 overall.

The score was tied at the 5:50 mark in the first quarter before Jackson State went on an unanswered nine-point run to finish the first quarter with a score of 17-9. The two teams traded possessions until just under the three-minute mark with the help of an all-around team scoring effort to go into the locker rooms with a final score of 43-21.

The Tigers added 36 points in the final half to win the contest with a final score of 79-52. Four Lady Tigers ended the game scoring in double-figures, with Ameshya Williams-Holliday leading the team yet again with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Keshuna Luckett added 13 points, and Miya Crump and Ja'riyah Covington both finished with 12.

"The girls played phenomenally", said head coach Tomekia Reed. "They came in focused and on a mission to come back home with a sweep. We haven't done that in my four years here at Jackson State, and I'm really proud of their level of effort and intensity, and I am ready for the Texas schools to come in this weekend."

The Lady Tigers are set to host Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern on Saturday and Monday.
