JSU Stays On Top With 3-1 Win at Prairie View

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas| The Jackson State University soccer team continues on its conference win streak with a meeting at Prairie View A&M Friday night. The Tigers defeated the Panthers 3-1 to hold on to an unblemished conference record.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Jackson State (7-6-1, 6-0-1) got on the board for the first time at the 11:46 mark as Sage Magruder punched one in for the Tigers

-Roughly three minutes later, JSU struck again as Maya Thompson scored for the Tigers with an assist from Yayira Ahortor at 14:37

-Olivia Cobb shot at the 18:35 mark to give the Tigers a larger advantage, but Prairie View's Medinat Lawal registered the save

-Kiana Tulloch shot twenty-one minutes and forty-two seconds into the game as Lawal swooped in for another save for the Panthers

-The Tigers scored again to take a 3-0 lead into the half as Kendyl Terrell scored with an assist from Alexes Sanchez

-Prairie View (1-10, 1-6) opened the second half with a shot from Kamara Bradley at the 47:07 mark

- JSU's Karime Antonio-Lopez shot on goal at 51:16 as Lawal recorded another save

-The Tigers had two chances at penalty kicks but were not successful

-PVAMU scored at the 80:17 mark as Angie Vaca assisted Yahaira Owens for the goal

-JSU held on to the lead walking away with the 3-1 victory

INSIDE THE NUMBERS 

-Jackson State notched19 shots and 15 shots on goal

-Tionna Taylor completed another shutout in the goal

-Prairie View's Medinat Lawal registered 12 saves

-Sage Magruder, Maya Thompson and Kendyl Terrell each scored a goal in the Tigers' 3-1 win
