JACKSON, Miss.| The Jackson State University soccer team claimed the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Regular Season Championship with its victory at Texas Southern Sunday afternoon. JSU took down Texas Southern 2-0 to remain undefeated and hold onto the top spot in the SWAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jackson State (8-6-1, 7-0-1 SWAC) got on the board at the 14:44 mark as Kendyl Terrell scored the Tigers' first goal with the assist from Sage Magruder
-JSU scored again with 23 seconds left in the half as Anne Sjolte plugged on in for the Tigers to take a 2-0 lead into halftime
-Kendyl Terrel shot at the 55:08 mark in the second half, but was unsuccessful as the shot was blocked
-Brynn Walker shot out wide at 56:51 in an effort to boost JSU
-Texas Southern (4-9, 4-2-2 SWAC) registered the second save of the game by Jaidyn Christophe while Brynn Walker shot again at the 71:08 minute mark
-JSU's Annalise Brunson shot for the Tigers with a little over five minutes left in regulation at 85:14 as Christophe recorded another save for Texas Southern
-Alessia Skinner took her chance at the goal, but Christophe registered her fourth save of the game at 89:18
-JSU clenched on to the lead walking away with the 2-0 victory and the SWAC Regular Season Title

-Jackson State recorded11 shots and six shots on goal
-Tionna Taylor registered two saves on the day
-Texas Southern's Jaidyn Christophe registered four saves
-Kendyl Terrell and Anne Sjolte each scored a goal in the Tigers' 2-1 win and Sage Magruder is credited with an assist on the first goal
UP NEXT
The Tigers close out the regular season with a trip to Baton Rouge, La on Friday. JSU will take on Southern University at 6 p.m. inside of A.W. Mumford Stadium.
