BATON ROUGE, -- Jackson State University soccer team fell 1-0 on the road against Southern University on Friday evening. A late goal at the 70:46 mark gave the Jaguars a boost to top the Tigers at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
Jackson State fell to 8-7-1 overall and 7-1-1 in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play following its first conference defeat of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jackson State kept Southern off the scoreboard in the first half before giving up the lone goal after the break in the loss.
-Tionna Taylor led Jackson State with seven saves.
-The Lady Tigers recorded 10 shots in the loss, four of them on goal.
-Jackson State faced 15 SU. shots, eight of them on goal.
-Southern University (8-8-2, 5-3-1 SWAC) score the first and only goal of the match as Victoria Thomas snuck one in after three attempts in 16 seconds
