OXFORD, OH --The Jackson State men's basketball team shot 55.6 percent from beyond the arc, but fell to the Miami (OH) RedHawks 95-78 on the road Tuesday.
The Tigers (0-6) had four players score in double figures, led by Coltie Young, who had 20 points. Jamarcus Jones tacked on 18 points from the bench and Ken Evans chipped in as well with 18 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
Zeke Cook pulled down six offensive rebounds to lead the Jackson State offense which grabbed 16 boards and turned them into 15 second chance points.
How It Happened
Jackson State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 45-32 heading into halftime.
Miami (OH) kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 86-62 advantage before Jackson State went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 86-68 with 3:56 to go in the contest. The Tigers kept their comeback going, but Miami (OH) managed to hold on for the 95-78 win. Jackson State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 12 of its 46 total points.
