Jackson State falls to Abilene Christian 65-56

ABILENE, TX --Ken Evans and Gabe Watson combined to score 35 total points, but the Tigers fell to the Abilene Christian Wildcats 65-56 on the road Monday.

The Tigers (0-1) had two players score in double figures, led by Evans, who had 19 points. Watson tacked on 16 points and seven rebounds and Romelle Mansel added seven points and 14 rebounds.

Jackson State collected 41 rebounds in Monday's game compared to Abilene Christian's 34, led by Mansel's 14 boards.

Jackson State forced 15 Abilene Christian turnovers. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 19 points on the other end of the floor. Chase Adams led the way individually with four steals.

How It Happened

Jackson State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 45-25 heading into halftime.

Jackson State came out of halftime clicking on all cylinders, going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Evans' jumper, to shrink the deficit to 45-33 with 14:24 to go in the contest. The Tigers kept their comeback going, but Abilene Christian managed to hold on for the 65-56 win. Jackson State took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 31 points in the lane.
