Jackson State falls to Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, AL --The Jackson State men's basketball team got a 25-point showing from the bench, but fell 84-64 to the Alabama Crimson Tide on the road Tuesday.

Ken Evans led the Tigers (1-11) with 19 points. Trace Young tacked on seven points and 10 rebounds and Zeke Cook helped out with six points and six rebounds off of the bench.

Led by Evans' three offensive rebounds, Jackson State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in nine second chance points.

Jackson State forced 17 Alabama turnovers. The Tigers turned those takeaways into 17 points on the offensive end of the floor. Coltie Young led the way individually with two steals.

How It Happened

After falling behind 31-21, Jackson State went on a 9-0 run with 2:48 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Chase Adams, to narrow its deficit to 31-30. The Tigers deficit remained the same as they entered halftime trailing 33-32.

Alabama kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 64-52 advantage before Jackson State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Evans' three, to shrink the deficit to 64-57 with 5:41 to go in the contest. Alabama responded and outscored the Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 84-64. Jackson State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 13 of its 32 total points.
