CORVALLIS, Ore.|Â After leading Oregon State the entire first half, the Jackson State women's basketball team lost its momentum in the third quarter and the lead with 5:18 left in the third. The Tigers could not hang on in the second half as they fell 63-53 to the Beavers at Gill Coliseum Saturday afternoon.
Jackson State (2-4)Â had three players score in double figures. Ti'lan Boler led the charge with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Liz Martino tacked on 12 points, three assists, two steals and two blocks, while Angel Jackson notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds plus a block and an assist.
Jackson State's defense held Oregon State to only 31.3 percent shooting from the field, including 23.8 percent from beyond the arc. The Lady Tigers also limited Talia von Oelhoffen to 2-of-13 shooting and nine points in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· After jumping out to a 4-3 advantage, Jackson State went on a 7-0 run with 7:38 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Ti'Lan Boler, to increase its lead to 11-3.
· The Tigers then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 16-11 advantage.
· Jackson State did most of its first quarter damage in the paint, scoring eight of its 16 points close to the basket.
· The Tigers maintained their lead in the game's second frame and entered halftime with a 26-21 edge.
· Jackson State forced four Oregon State turnovers in the period and turned them into four points.
· JSU then lost its advantage in the third quarter and trailed the Beavers 40-32 entering the fourth.
· Jackson State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled two of the team's six third-quarter points.
· Oregon State kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 54-43 advantage before Jackson State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Martino's three, to shrink the deficit to 54-49 with 1:05 to go in the contest.
· Jackson State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 21 points.
· Oregon State responded and outscored the Lady Tigers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 63-53.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
· Jackson State shot 37.1 percent (23-for-62) from the field and 31.3 percent (5-for-16) from the arc
· The Tigers tallied 20 points in the paint, 11 points off 15 Oregon State turnovers, 10 fast break points, six bench points and four second chance points
· Oregon State went 21-of-67 (31.3 percent) from the field and 16-for-25 from the free throw line (64 percent)
· Jelena Mitrovic led the Beavers with 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists
· The Beavers recorded 24 points in the paint, 29 bench points, 12 fast break points, 12 points off 16 JSU turnovers and five second chance points

The Tigers will travel to Missouri to take on Mizzou next Sunday in Columbia, Mo. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at Mizzou Arena.
