Men's Basketball Falls At Alcorn

LORMAN, Miss. – The Jackson State University Tigers fell one point short of extending their winning streak to five games on Saturday, falling to rival Alcorn State 61-60 at the Davey L. Whitney Health and Physical Education Complex.  The loss halted the Tigers' four-game winning streak, their longest of the season.

"I thought our guys prepared well during the week to win the game," said JSU head coach Wayne Brent.  "We put ourselves in position to win, but we didn't close the game at the end."

Jackson State led at the half, 34-30, and led in the closing minute of the game before the homestanding Braves connected on a pair of free throws to secure the victory.

With the loss, the Tigers fell to 8-17 on the season, 6-8 in the SWAC.  The ASU Braves upped their record to 11-15 overall and 10-4 in the conference.

JSU's Brent says his Tigers will take a couple of days off before preparations begin for Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M on the Texas trip next weekend.
