Four Tigers Score In Double Figures In Win Over UAPB

PINE BLUFF, ARK - Four Tigers combine for 51 points with Terence Lewis II leading the way notching his second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ken Evans Jr finished with 14 points, Jayveous McKinnis finished with 12 points, and Jonas James III chipped in 11 points in helping Jackson State defeat UAPB, 60-47, on Saturday night inside the H.O. Clemmons Arena. 

Lewis II ignited JSU (6-16, 4-7 SWAC) in the first half, scoring 10 of his 14 through the first 20 minutes action.  In the second half, Evans, Jr. carried the Tigers to the finish line, scoring 12 of his 14 points in the stanza. .

After UAPB (5-19, 3-8 SWAC) was able to get on the board first, JSU responded with an 11-0 run to break open the first half early on with a 13-5 lead and never trailed in the game after the run. The Tigers also put together a pair of 6-0 scoring runs in the quarter to extend their lead to 33-17 at the midway point. 

In the second half, The Tigers largest lead was 19. The Golden Lions attempted to make a comeback with 2:52 left to play cutting the deficit to 10, 55-45, but JSU was able to hit free-throws down the stretch to complete the road conference weekend sweep. 

NOTABLES
- Jackson State was 23-53 (43 percent) shooting from the field and (11-14) from the charity stripe
- Arkansas Pine-Bluff shot 40 percent (20-50) from the field and 46 percent (6-13) from the free-throw line
- JSU registered 40 rebounds, including 24 on the defensive glass and 16 on the offensive glass
- UAPB pulled down 23 rebounds, with 15 coming on the defensive end and eight on the offensive end
- The Tigers finished with 34 points in the paint, 20 bench points, and 10 second-chance points
- The Golden Lions registered nine bench points, 34 points in the paint, and six second-chance points

Jackson State will return home as they square off with Florida A&M Saturday, February 12. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. CT at the Lee E. Williams Athletic and Assembly Center.
