Baseball Loses SWAC Opener At Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  – The Jackson State University baseball team lost at Bethune-Cookman Friday 4-0 in game one of the Southwestern Athletic Conference opening series.
Jatavis Melton had three of the Tigers' five hits on a 3-for-4 afternoon at the plate.

A trio of Tigers' pitchers combined to limit the Wildcats to only five hits while striking out nine.

The loss by JSU (10-8 overall, 0-1 SWAC) ends a 27-game conference winning streak by the Tigers. The loss in regular season play in the SWAC is the first in nearly three years for Jackson State (a 2-1 loss at Alcorn on May 5, 2019).

Game two of the series is Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
