Baseball's Home Winning Streak Ends To Louisiana-Monroe

The Jackson State University baseball team lost to Louisiana-Monroe 8-3 Tuesday afternoon at Braddy Field, ending the Tigers' nine-game home winning streak.

JSU scored in the first in the second inning, as Jaelen Williams scored on a third-strike passed ball for a 1-0 lead.

Trailing 3-0 in the fifth, the Tigers added a run in the home half of the inning. Chevalier Dorris Jr. led off with a single, and stole second. With two out, Marcus Atterberry singled to left field, scoring Dorris to cut the deficit to 3-2.

In the seventh trailing 6-2, Jackson State scored again. Dorris walked with one out, stole second, and scored on a two-out single down the right field line by El'Rico Riley to make the score 6-3 but could get no closer.

Dorris, Riley, and Ty Hill each had two hits for the Tigers (16-17), who return to action Thursday at Florida A&M in game one of a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at 4 p.m. CT.
