The Jackson State University softball team rallied for a 6-5 win over Alabama State in game one of Friday's doubleheader.

Game two was suspended after nine innings tied at 4-4. Due to forecasted weather over the weekend, the game and series will be resumed at a later date.

Lady Tigers 6, Alabama State 5: A four-run sixth inning rallied Jackson State to victory in the nationally televised game on ESPNU.

Isabel Gusman led off with a single before Ariel Arredondo and Julia Hubbard each walked to load the bases. Zoey Keyes then singled down the left field line, scoring Gusman and pinch runner Rachel Barker. Monica Serrano then singled to center to reload the bases before Mari Stephens singled to center to score Hubbard with the tying run. With one out, Takiya Hill's fielder's choice grounder scored Keys with the winning run.

Gusman's solo home run to center field in the second inning staked JSU to a 1-0 lead. Lauren Stewart's solo homer to left in the fourth tied the score at 2-2.

Gusman went 3-3 with a pair of runs scored, and Stephens and Serrano each went 2-for-3.
