Baseball's Rally Comes Up Short At Alabama State

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Jackson State University baseball team lost at Alabama State 6-3 Saturday night at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.

Jackson State scored its first run in the sixth inning. Jatavis Melton singled to lead off the inning. Following a sacrifice bunt by Devontae Rhodes, Ty Hill's double to left center scored Melton to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Tigers added a pair of runs in the ninth.  Jefrey Rodriguez walked, and Caleb Evans singled to lead off the inning. With one out, pinch-hitter Gavin Clemons singled up the middle, as pinch-runner Asher Akridge scored on an error. An RBI groundout scored Evans, but the Tigers could get no closer.

The final game of the series is Sunday at 1 p.m.
