Baseball Falls To Bethune-Cookman

JACKSON, Miss. – The Jackson State University baseball team lost to Bethune-Cookman 8-2 Saturday afternoon in the middle game of the three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference series at Braddy Field.

Devontae Rhodes, Jaelen Williams, and Marcus Atterberry each had two hits for JSU (23-23 overall, 10-13 SWAC).

Jackson State scored both runs in the first inning. Jatavis Melton led off with a walk followed by a Rhodes' bunt single. Ty Hill's sacrifice bunt advanced both runners before Caleb Evans' sacrifice fly scored Melton. Williams then doubled down the right field line to score Rhodes for a 2-0 lead, but the Tigers did not score again.
