Birmingham, Ala. - Jackson State Men's and Women's track and field program opened up the indoor season at the UAB Blazer Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Callie Calicut placed in the top eight in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.22 in the finals.
Amara Hawkins- Quinones placed second in the 600 meters.
In the 4x400, Jackson State placed second and third collectively in this event.
Ciara Corely finished 14th in the high jump in field events with a 1.46m.
Shawn Collins placed in the top four in the 500 meters with a time of 1.04.59.
Caleb Cruther placed second, while Shafi Muhammad placed fourth in the 600 meter run.
In the mile, Marquentin Barnes placed second with a time of 4.24.15.
In the 3000 meters, Jallah Galimah placed third with a time of 8.38.47, while Tyler Duncan ran a 9.14.71.
In field events, Javon Gray finished second in the long jump with 6.99 meters, while Tevin Thompson finished fourth with 6.83 meters. Sherman Hawkins placed first in the high jump with a new personal record of 2.14 meters, while Ronald Huddleston finished fourth. Davieon Center also placed third in the shot put and weight throw. Johnny Howell also placed fifth with 15.65 meters in the weight throw.
